Education Retainer
The retainer can comprise any of the elements listed below, so as to provide a solution that meets your school’s budget and requirements.
Employment Law
This can cover the following elements:
- A review of your current contracts of employment and Employee Handbook and providing amendments as required (and an annual review thereafter);
- An annual review to discuss current and emerging issues facing your school and to review the overall service and support offered;
- A newsletter to update you of current and forthcoming employment law issues;
- Training at your school for your key management staff in employment claims avoidance;
- A named specialist employment law solicitor to provide clear, simple and commercial telephone and email advice and support. This covers all day-to-day employment law issues, but excludes ‘projects’, which are larger individual pieces of work requiring the dedicated input of a single solicitor over a protracted period, such as advising in relation to the employment law aspects of a merger of 2 schools. Generally, most straightforward ill-health, disciplinary and grievance issues would come within the scope of the retainer;
- Discounted hourly rates for dealing with ‘projects’; and
- Optional insurance policy covering employment claims and expenses.
HR Support Element
This can cover the following elements:
- Provision of a detailed Managers’ Guide for core employee procedures – Poor Performance; Disciplinary; Grievance and Ill-Health procedures, providing step-by-step guidance and template letters;
- Access to a named specialist HR Adviser who will provide clear and simple telephone and email HR advice and support. As with the employment law element, this covers all day-to-day HR issues but excludes ‘projects’;
- A discounted hourly rate for dealing with ‘projects’;
- Advice on when to consult, communicate or negotiate with your school TU representatives;
- A quarterly review meeting to review service and support offered and discuss current and emerging issues facing your school; and
- Optional insurance policy covering employment claims and expenses.
